To Tell The Truth

ATTENTION!
Everyone who does NOT know what Snopes.com is, raise your hand!

Okay, Stupid, put your hand down.  Nobody can see you.

Now that you have self-identified yourself as an idiot, I have something that I need to tell you: People post things that are NOT true.  Do NOT repost things that you’ve read on an internet site without verifying the validity of the claim.  It is very easy to go to www.snopes.com and type in a few key words and the truth or fiction of a story.

In the very early days of the internet there was an email going around that claimed something like this, “Microsoft is conducting a study of their email system.  If you receive and forward this email, Microsoft will reimburse you with $100.00.”  The fact that it was so stupid to think that Microsoft (or anybody else) would pay you for forwarding an email did not keep people from doing it.  I continued to see that email passed around for years and years.

PLEASE!  Before you forward the latest piece of cr@p that you read … check to see if it is true.
Thanks for your time.

Do you sleep in your contacts?

"Do you sleep in your contacts?"
that's what the advertisement asks.
I have slept in the bed.
   I have slept in pajamas.
I have slept wrapped in the arms of my spouse.
But I have never slept in my contacts.
I may have slept while wearing my contacts.
English is a perfectly good language if it's used correctly.  Is it really that difficult to say, "Have you ever slept while wearing your contacts?"
If reminds me of the Marx Brothers routine where Groucho says, "I once shot an elephant in my pajamas."

Are Your Lashes Thinning As You Get Older?

I saw an ad today for L@ti$$e*, a prescription medicine to help people whose eyelashes have stopped growing!  There are people all over the world dying of all types of infectious diseases and we have a medication that helps when your eyelashes stop growing?
It makes me sick to think that I live in a society that cares more about peoples eyelashes than real people dying because of infectious diseases, starvation and crappy living conditions.
We are a nation of riches.  We have an excess of ability, an excess of talent, an excess of wealth ... and this is what we do with it?
No wonder Jesus said that it was easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.
This isn't the American dream.  This is the American nightmare.
